I have been enjoying the peace and tranquility of Deer Isle since 1969. My mother spent time at Les Chalet Francais (The French Camp) as a young girl in the 1940s and brought our family to the island when I was 12. The following summer, my mother opened a bookstore/art gallery in Deer Isle Village and we became 'summer people.' Like so many others, the island captured my soul and has been a part of my life ever since.
In 2009, I purchased Rose Cottage. Build in 1885, the house needed a lot of work! It has been an adventure bringing the house back to life. My daughter and I enjoyed 3 years living there full time in 2010-2013. Although many things have changed since 1969, the pace and charm of Deer Isle and its community have not. It is the only place I know of where life truly does slow down and people truly connect.
You will not find Rose Cottage on the open market. It is my personal home and is too precious to me to be offered to strangers on a rental site. It brings me great joy to offer Rose Cottage to friends and family for your enjoyment when I am not able to be there. It is offered in the spirit of a gift economy.
Contact me if you are interested in experiencing time away at Rose Cottage.
Want to see new photos and comments from friends and family after their visits? I'll let you know when we have new content.
